The Ottawa Children's Festival would like to formally thank the students of Longfields & Davidson Heights Secondary School's Autism Program for their amazing help throughout this year's Festival. As ambassadors, they greeted children, provided information to other schools and helped orient them to the festivalgrounds. This gave the ambassadors the opportunity to gain confidence dealing with their peers and to make a contribution to their community. It also allowed other students the chance to interact with them in a shared, communal space.
Those with severe intellectual disabilities must be regarded as full and equal members of our city; we're so glad they could be part of our Festival.
