Welcome, educators!

The Ottawa International Children’s Festival is committed to engaging, entertaining and stimulating the imaginations of children and youth. For over 20 years, tens of thousands of students and educators have enjoyed the Festival’s activities and performances from around the world and throughout Canada. A longtime educator and Festival attendee had this to say about her students’ experience at the Ottawa Children’s Festival:

"Vincent Massey students, many of whom live in public housing or have come from countries around the world, feel like they have been transported to a magical world in which everything has been created for them. They return to school with smiles on their faces, stories to tell and excitement in their hearts. The Ottawa Children's Festival gives the students a common experience about which to talk, write and create. It is a valued annual event for our Order of Excellence Award-winning school."

Carol Hunter, Retired Principal of Vincent Massey Public School

and 2008 Recipient of the Order of Merit Canadian Award for Excellence in Education

The Festival exists to surround young people with excellence in the performing arts that excites their instinctive creativity and their boundless imaginations, and encourages individual expression.

"There is something for every type of interest and style, which allows [teachers] a freedom to choose what we feel is a great learning experience for the students. There is a lesson to be learned and an experience to be had during each performance.

The Ottawa's Children's Festival is an activity to mark on your calendars and that we look forward to attending again this coming year. Coming from Sarnia, it is a long and sometimes painful journey to Ottawa, but we are never disappointed and always refreshed by the international acts that don't just entertain but motivate the students to develop new abilities and qualities in their respective domains. It is a learning experience not to be forgotten…!"
